MISSIONARY DAY 7th May 2017 (2:00PM)

"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” Acts 1:8

The following is an excerpt from the sermon of Rev. S Nengzakhup

The past is like a reflection trapped in a mirror, like a crack in the mirror however you wanted to change it or look in different perspective, the view is still the same…

You will see yourself for who you are, it is also true that the present will be the past sometime in future.

Youth is like summer- passionate, vibrant and beautiful…

Youth is like a flower blooming,

Youth comes with full of energy to the body and we mistook it for resources.

Your youth will come one day, maybe you are still living it or you have already pass through that phase. It comes once a life and within that few glory days, you’ll either fall or build yourself.

Youth is seen for what it is, for its power and often exploited by politicians, business men, media, designers, evil…

Youth for its beauty elevates your life, a centre of attention as if the world is revolving around you.

Youth is one of the most defining phase of human life

As Christian “youth” is a critical phase of our life. We are determined by how we spend our days during that phase, how we build our morals with the changing time, philosophy and technology. Christ expects us to stand firm in our believe, the ultimate truth (Philippians 1:27)

I think the people who saw God in his light during their youth are the luckiest, though their life might be messed up at times, though they faced the same problems like we did, to have that inner peace in those day, to turn to God for answers and solutions, they might just be the most privileged people.

Joseph and Daniel are the archetypal youth in the Bible who have lived their youth according to God's will and are blessed.  (Genesis39:1) (Book of Daniel)

How do we spend our “Youth”?

It is very interesting how the people who once took shelter in huts, plough and work under the baking sun are no longer in that profession but their descendants lives in the city - full of talents, opportunities, glowing with beauty and love, yet exposed to other cultures, religion, cult and lifestyles.

The life that we have to live is set on cross, we know our history, we also know who morphed our fate, by grace… We have accepted it and it doesn’t stop there.

For the Good news is a burden for those who don’t spread, the message is powerful, life changing and we have to spread across the globe. God has chosen us from our hometown and  we have mission to complete

We often misunderstood the term “Missionary”. We think of mission fields, charity, pastors, new church and spreading the Gospel. But the truth is that, the human mind is intrigued by the act of kindness, love and emotions. We cry the first time when we hear the Good news and we are fully convinced by looking its seeds. Little did we know that we are missionaries among the non-believer among us. Our actions and how we work are the first thing they noticed about our faith. I want us to realize how critical being a born again Christian is, how peaceful and loving yet how every act of our life should manifest the gospel.

May we live our life reflecting the meekness of Christ.
