CHRISTMAS DAY

Topic : “His’ star” Matthew 2: 2,9.

Speaker: Pastor N Tuanglang

The pastor have a word of prayer  and after that he greeted everyone from near and far who gathered for spending Christmas day in the church.

The birth of Jesus Christ was foretold by many prophets, as we have seen one of them is in Isaiah 9:6. So we know that the Christmas that we are celebrating now, was the proof that what the prophets foretold came true.  When Christ was born ‘his star’ was standing out amongst the rest.  Daniel 12:3; Philipite 2:15.

  1. The wise men were brought to Jesus by ‘His star’-

The shepherds were the first to know the birth of Jesus Christ which was written in Luke 2. The wise men also know the birth of Jesus, but they knew it because of their wisdom, they saw a star which is distinct from others, a star which can move and bring them to the birthplace of Jesus.

  • God sent his son so that everyone can be saved, ‘his star’ is Jesus and like the wise men followed the stars and reach Jesus, if we follow Jesus he will bring us to our Father.
  • The wise men did not follow the star of Bethlehem so they face troubles- King Herod is sad, the whole town of Jerusalem is sad, all male child below 2 years got killed, the angels have to discipline them and asked them to follow another path, like wise if we did not follow Jesus we are sure to face troubles, so we should always see the star and let our life be guided by Jesus.
  • The star that we have to always look upon is our savior Jesus. Hebrews 12:2
  1. Stars shine brighter in the dark-
  • Even during day, stars are in the sky, but they are not visible because of the brightness of the sun. The stars are visible at night because of darkness. We realize that we need Jesus more when we are sad or in times of troubles. Ephesians 1:22,23.
  • We have to fully trust our God and he will take care of everything. After casting our burden to Him, we need not to worry anymore. We should be able to say that whatever comes to us is God’s will. Deuteronomy 2:31.
  • When facing life’s difficulties, we always have someone who will take care of us, which is His’ star. Psalm 23:1; Psalm 121:3.
  1. The star is always shining in brightness and in darkness-

The stars are shining brightly even when we cannot see them, likewise our Lord is always there for us even when we don’t know that we need Him. When we are saved, we live in God and God lives in us. We are always His. We are the children of God filled with the holy spirit saved by God through Jesus Christ. After being saved we are always shining like His star. 1 John 3:24, 1John 4:13.

  1. We should always shine bright like the star-

We are in a capital city where the proportion of Christianity is only 0.09%. We are in a big mission filed where we have to let our light shine brightly amongst others. Like a star which shine brightly in dark, we should let our light shine. Acts 5:40-42. We cannot give salvation to others but we can be the guide, we can behave in our schools, colleges and workplace in such a way that people can say that he/she must be a Christian. We should live a Christ like life. Philipians 2:5, Matthew 5:16, Acts 1:9, John 5:16.

This christmas, may we be the star wherever we go and live a Christ like life.
