Elder's Appreciation Programme

Pastor N Tuanglang prayed for elders who attain the age 65, then he started his sermon.

The length of our days is seventy years - or eighty, if we have the strength; yet their span is but trouble and sorrow, for they quickly pass and we fly away. Psalm 90:10

Topic: The importance and preciousness of the elders.

Elders were approachable, respectful, and they are important in our lives because being good to them, respecting them and taking care of them with their hearts content is a blessings for us.

Bible verses: Leviticus 19; 1Timothy 5:1; 1Peter 5:5; Proverbs 16:31

I was in a village, and one day I go visiting house. There was a family who reserved a room for their old mother even though she did not stay in the village often. This much they respect their mother though their father is not there anymore.

I once visited the police who used to duty at the church gate, I can see that here also, they reserve a room for their old father, though their mother is not there anymore.

Even non believers are doing good things to the elders and receive blessings, which God has promised.

THE IMPORTANCE and PRECIOUSNESS OF ELDERS.

1.They receive the blessings of God: They are the one who receive blessings from above and can give it away to anyone whom they prefer. It is like money, in order to give money away to someone you need to have the money first. We should respect our parents despite their characters, status, etc. Giving respect to the elderly, behave in their favor, taking care of them to their hearts content, etc. are some of the good things we can do for the elderly.

2. Elders are the channel of God’s blessings: Elders are approachable, respectable, we can show them respect and ask them their recommendation in whatever we are doing, because they are much experienced than us and sees things long way before us. If we approach them they will never lead us to the wrong path, because they are our earthly Lord, God gave them for our parents. If we are in favor of them then God’s blessings will be upon us, and our elderly parents and grandparents are the channel of our blessings.

3. If you like blessings, pay the price: If you want to be blessed, then pay respect to the elderly who holds the blessings, serve them well, make them feels special. Jesus revealed himself to Paul and told him that he is Jesus, the one he tortured. Likewise not respecting and torturing them will hurt our God, because the elderly are the ones whom God gave us for our earthly God.

We need to repent to God and get back to our elders, only then we can receive their blessings.
