Time: 11 A.M.
Place: EBC Church, Nasirpur, New Delhi

This day is celebrated as Pentecost Day.
The Local Pastor read Acts 2:1-4

“When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. 2 Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting.3 They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. 4 All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.”

Thereafter he had the opening prayer. Praise and Worship was led by the Worship Team which is then followed by Mass Prayer. Upa Khamkhanpau had the Offertory Prayer.

BYF and BDF presented special numbers.

The Local Pastor then delivered his Pentecost Day Message. He read out Acts 1:8 “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” He explained the meaning of Pentecost, saying that it is the day of outpouring of holy spirit and the day when the Disciples were full of the holy spirit. Pentecost means 50 days. It marks the 50th day after the Passover Feast. Why was the Pentecost day so choosen? He explained it by giving two reasons:

(i)                   Pentecost, a Jewish feast was celebrated 50 days after Passover. On this day pilgrims had come from all over the world to celebrate the event. All males within a 20 mile radius of Jerusalem have to come and perform sacrifices. Jerusalem is very crowded during this time and that maybe why God has choosen this day; and

(ii)                  This is also a harvest festival and it signifies spiritual harvest.

On the purpose of Pentecost, two purposes can be seem from Acts 1:8:

(i)                  Power; and

(ii)                 Witness of the Lord

The Service ended with benediction by Upa Chinsum.
