WORSHIP SERVICE: NEW YEAR 2013

On a cold and foggy morning EBCC Delhi ushered in New Year 2013 with praise and thanksgiving. God has been with us in the past year and will continue to guide us as we stand at the beginning of a new innings. Our gratitude for God’s innumerable mercy and love was melodiously captured by the Worship Team who set the tone for the service. Before his thanksgiving prayer Pastor V. Nenglian read from Psalm 90: 12 and exhorted the congregation to be grateful to God and also learn how to wisely use our time on earth.

The Baptist Youth Fellowship, Major Sonlal and Ms Olivia presented special songs which reflected the mood of the service. In his brief and concise sermon (Tips for Year 2013- in Paite) the pastor gave tips on how to usher in 2013.

  1. No compromise/treaty with sin: In Deuteronomy 7: 12 and Romans 12:2 the Bible clearly states that as the chosen people of God we are too keep ourselves holy both in spirit and body. One of the ways to ensure this is to maintain our purity by not entering into matrimonial alliances with non believers. In today’s world this can be further extended to daily instances where we often have to choose between our faith and assimilating ourselves with the practices of non Christians around us.
  2. 2. Be strong and courageous in the Lord: Joshua 1: 9 is an assurance from God the He will be with us through all our trials and tribulations. We are never to be discouraged because we have our protection from God. This is the best ammunition that we have as believers in our daily struggle against sin.
  3. 3. To stand firm in our convictions and belief: Moses declared to the ever fearful Israelites of how God will deliver them from the hands of their enemy the Egyptians. Similarly we are to remain bold, firm and committed in our belief in God’s deliverance and his love for us; that he will not let us fall provided we allow him to govern our lives.

Following a brief recess the New Year celebrations resumed with the ‘lengkhawm’ our communal singing. This was followed by a scrumptious early dinner on the roof of the church.
