TRUE GREATNESS (Matthew 20:20-28)
May 06, 2012, at 11:00AM

This Sunday was observed as “MISSIONARY DAY” . It was a day of great significance and importance. It is a known fact that if not for the missionaries we would still be lurking in darkness in this land of idolaters and Non-Believers.  No word is enough to describe the great work of the missionaries  amongst us, the people of Southern Manipur. What a joyous occasion it was for us all when we recently celebrated a CENTENARY of the  coming of Christianity in our land.

To commemorate “Missionary Day” on this Sunday, a passage from the gospel of Mathew was chosen as the theme and It reads, “This, however, is not the way it shall be among you. If one of you wants to be great, he must be servant of the rest” Mathew 20:26

The worship service commenced with the worship team leading the congregation with songs and prayer. A prayer to thank the Almighty for  Sunday’s offering was led by Upa Damsawmthang.

The TBMC (Mission’s Committee) conducted   Sunday’s proceedings, in which they gave a report of the work done and what needed to be done in their Year Plan.  TBMC (Mission’s Committee) distributed Pledge Cards  to the congregation so that each one of us can contribute towards strengthening of the mission’s work.

A  soul stirring gospel number  was presented by the Baptist Youth Fellowship.

Pastor V. Nenglian, Local Pastor, delivered a heart-warming message for the occasion wherein he asserted that, it is how we serve others which should define our lives like the missionaries who through their work and zeal serve God. It was heartening to know that our congregation (EBC) had more than 80 sponsored missionaries to bring people to the kingdom of God. Yes! One cannot stop admiring their selflessness and self-sacrifices.  They are the ones who embody the true Christian spirit of serving God and serving others. “Just as the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve, and to give his life a ransom for many.” Mathew 20:28. The worship service  concluded with a benediction by Upa Kamsuanthang.

On a whole, this Missionary Day made me wonder how many of us are willing to sacrifice the comfort of our homes and go to the field for missionary work. Indeed! It is not easy to sacrifice our worldly pleasures and start to dwell in the ascetic life of missionary work, but I strongly believe by hearing the messages that was delivered across today, many of us have realise the immeasurable contributions of the missionaries . The reconciliation of every Man towards the Almighty, including you and I have been possible only through these workers of God, without whom we would have been spending our lives without any  direction our purpose.
