A special visiting guest from back home, Rev. Dr. Luaichinthang and his wife were introduced to the congregation and he expressed his great joy on seeing how the Lord has blessed both the EBCCs of Delhi.

Pastor V. Nenglian from EBCC Dwarka began his sermon on the topic, “Practical Christian Life”. The most important purpose of living a fulfilled Christian life is to prepare oneself for spiritual warfare, to triumph and lead a triumphant life. Drawing reference from Paul’s theology in Colossians 3:5-17, he explains the ground principles which a Christian must abide by:

1) to put to death (Colossians 3: 5-7)

“Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. 6 Because of these, the wrath of God is coming.[a] 7 You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived.” One must adopt an introspective attitude and determine whether the things we value do not set us on the path of self-destruction.

2) to put off ( Colossians 3: 8-11)

“But now you must also rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. 9 Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices 10 and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator. 11 Here there is no Gentile or Jew,circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all, and is in all.” We Christians are told to measure the weight of the words that escapes our mouth, to weigh whether the words we speak is just and pure and.

3) to put on (Colossians 3:12-17)

Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. 13 Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. 14 And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. 16 Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. 17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” We are admonished to do things with love and a forgiving heart because it is God’s will that we do so. As we set prepare ourselves and set forth to fight the spiritual warfare, we must ask ourselves, have I put to death all the things he commanded me? Have I put off all unsavoury feelings and have I clothed myself in the virtues that God desires of us?

The Pastor then concludes his sermon with a prayer for the congregants of EBCC Central Delhi.A special trio from EBCC Central Delhi then presented a special number. The hymn “Kris ka kumpipa thuchiamte” was sung, led by the worship team and Pastor G. Kamzamuan from EBCC Central Delhi said the benediction and the joint worship serice was concluded.
