Father’s Day, EBCC Delhi

In India and many parts of the world Fathers day is celebrated on the third Sunday of June. EBC celebrates this day by dedicating the day’s service to the Father’s.

The days program was conducted by L/Upa Hausuanthang, After a brief introduction of the program of the day, he read out two Bible Verses, Ephesians 5:25 and Ephesians 6:4 and offered a short prayer.

The Worship team then leads the congregation in offering praise through songs. Songs like “Hiai Khovel ka Pa a” (*This world belongs to my father),” Innsung maitam ah” (*At the Family Alter) and “Thilhoih I muh bang uh.” (*The Blessings we have) were sung with enthusiasm and devotion. Offerings were collected by the ushers and Upa Thiankhanmuan dedicated it to the Lord.

The fathers presented a song titled “Vualzawlna Katan Vang in” written by T.Pumkhothang. The song recollects the abundant blessings, past, present and future and the composers’ gratitude for the same.

The worship team then leads the congregation in singing the song “Toupa hoih hi” which was followed by a mass prayer.

The Children’s wing of the church presented a melodious song titled “Pate hon it ung” which was composed by Pa Thangson, the superintendent of the Baptist children’s Department (BCD). They also presented beautiful handmade cards inscribed with their own thoughts dedicated to the fathers.

Nu Grace Donnemching, a committee member of the Baptist Dorcas fellowship, on behalf of the mothers highlighted the importance of being a father. Drawing heavily on her personal experience she talked of the Father as a provider, protector and a role model.

Ms. Nancy Chinghoih, a committee member of the Baptist youth fellowship then gave a short speech on the value of a father. She dwelled upon the importance of a good father and how he moulds the family. She also highlighted the plight of families with absentee fathers. This was followed by rendition of a song titled “Sianmang Lim Ka Tun leh Zua” (Parents-Mirror image of God.) by Ching Lydia and her sister.

The Pastor then delivered a topical sermon on “Pathian pa ahih na (The Divine Fatherhood) based on the biblical verses Deuteronomy 10:17-18, Psalms 68:5 and 2nd Corinthians 6:18. (full sermon in mp.3)

The main narrative of the sermon were

1) God the father of the Israelites

2) God the father of Jesus

3) God the father of the believers

And the Epilogue of the sermon was:

1) God of HOPE

2) God of Happiness

3) God of confidence and courage.

The Congregation then sang a closing song “Toupa mikhal kahi” (Lord, I am a sinner) and the service ended with a Benediction by the Pastor.
