SUNDAY WORSHIP SERVICE, EBCC DELHI

Date: 28 October, 2012 (Sunday)

Time: 11 A.M.

Place: EBC Church, Nasirpur, New Delhi

The Worship Service started with the Local Pastor having the opening prayer. Led by the Worship Team, the Congregation sang  the hymns “Puangzak zel hi”, “Lamdang lua sa in ka ding” and “Jesu a Lawmhoih i neih dan” followed by mass prayer. The congregation then sang “Na Thupilua” during which the ushers collected the offerings. Upa Chinsum then had the Offertory Prayer, dedicating the offerings to the Lord.

Upa Kamsuanthang, the Local Secretary then called on the new members to be inducted into EBC Delhi and the Local Pastor had a prayer for them. Mohamedpur BYF Area Fellowship then presented a special number.

The speaker of the day, the Local Pastor, spoke on the topic “True Worship”. He said that true worship is explained in John 4:24 as worshipping in the Spirit and in truth. He read John 4:20-24;

20 Our ancestors worshiped on this mountain, but you Jews claim that the place where we must worship is in Jerusalem.”

21 “Woman,” Jesus replied, “believe me, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. 22 You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews. 23 Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. 24 God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”

He said that merely being a Christian is not worship. Worship consists of:

1. Spirit-Spirit is life, and worship with all your life

2. Truth-Worship with all your heart, in truth, guided by the Holy Spirit

Worship should be through Jesus who said in Rome 12:1 “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.”. He said that our worship should be based on individual and not on the group. Jesus said “You are God’s temple” so for true worship the individual is sufficient. In conclusion, he said;

  1. Worship is not dependent on the place or the programme
  2. True worship is worshipping in the Spirit and in truth
  3. Worship is truly knowing God

Therefater, Upa Thiankhanmuan had the closing prayer/ benefiction and the service concluded.
