SUNDAY SCHOOL SERVICE, EBCC DELHI

Date: 15th April, 2012 (Sunday)
Time: 11 A.M.
Place: EBC Church, Nasirpur, New Delhi

At the start of the service, Pastor V.Nenglian read Psalms 96 and dedicated the service to the Lord. Praise & Worship was led by the Worship Team of EBCC, Delhi.  The Congregation praised the Good Lord through hymns such as “Toupa ah Kipak” (Biakna Late #401), “Pathian Itna Lian in Sang” (Biakna Late #187) and “Toupa aw Kei Hong Len in” followed by Mass Prayer. After the Mass Prayer, “Khovel in Sum leh Pai Lamtam” (Pathian Ngaihla #191) was sung during which the ushers collected the offerings. Upa Thianzakham had the Offertory Prayer.

2.         The day’s service was earmarked for Sunday School (Matthew 18-20) which was taken by the Pastor. He gave thanks to the Lord for the pleasant weather and said that the changes in weather are a manifestation of the greatness of the Lord. The Bible verse of the day was “Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” (Matthew 19:26). The Pastor led the congregation in learning this verse and a competition was even held between the men’s and women’s section of the church. He briefly elaborated further on Matthew 18, 19 and 20.

3.         In Matthew 18, the main themes are:

  • The lifestyle of the inheritors of the Kingdom of Heaven-1) Be humble like the little children (verse 4); 2) Give more priority to heavenly things rather than worldly things (verse 8-9); and 3) Not despising the little ones (verse 10).
  • Dealing with sinners-1) Taking personal steps for reconciliation (verse 15-20); 2) Taking the help of the church (verse 17); 3) Asking for forgiveness (verse 26) and 4) Forgiving others (verse 33)

4.         In Matthew 19, the main themes are:

  • Marriage and Divorce-1) What God has joined together, let no one separate (verse 6); and 2) Anyone who divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another woman commits adultery(verse 9)
  • How to rejoice in the Kingdom of Heaven-1) Rejoice like little children (verse 13); 2) Choosing whatever one wants (verse 21) and 3) Courage to get rid of all impediments (verse 29)

5.         In Matthew 20, the main themes are:

  • In the Kingdom of Heaven, there is no first and there is no last. Everyone is treated as equal.
  • When Jesus predicts his death for the third time, he proclaimed that His death is not defeat but the culmination of the prophecy of God.
  • The greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven would be the most humble, who dedicate their life and time to serving others (verse 26-27)
  • Jesus healed two blind men and restored their sight.

6.         The moral/lessons from today’s Sunday School:

  • We should give ourselves to God, trust in Him and rely on His protection
  • Whoever is bound by the Church, will be bound in Heaven
  • We must long for the Kingdom of Heaven and remove whatever stands in that way
  • Our reward for doing the Lord’s service will be the same as those who have gone before us
  • The greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven will serve others

7.         The congregation then sung “Simlei Haksatna Tuangnung Siah Leng” (Biakna Late 466).  The Pastor then had a prayer and the service ended with the recital of “The Lord’s Prayer” by the congregation.
